Documentation: Myth

This page is about configuring some theme specific features. It won’t cover basics like theme installation, writing blog posts, creating pages or adding featured images. If you need help with that: try Google. For everyone else: continue reading.

The Social Menu.

The social menu will appear in three places: in the header, on the right side of the screen, and in the footer. The one on the right will only appear when the other two are out of sight. On small screens only the one in the footer will be shown. To configure the social menu you will only have to follow these three simple instructions:

  1. In the WordPress Admin screen. Go to Appearance > Menus.
  2. Create a new menu and add custom links with links to your social media.
  3. Select social menu at “Theme Locations” and click “Save Menu”

The Custom Header Image.

This theme was designed for use with a custom header image, but I think it looks equally well without one. In any case, if you want to use a custom header image, follow these three simple instructions:

  1. In the WordPress Admin screen. Go to Appearance > Customizer.
  2. Click on the “Header Image” tab and upload your image.
  3. Finally click on “Save” and enjoy your amazing new header.

The Post Formats.

This theme supports three post formats. These are just like regular posts, but in place of a featured image it will display a large block quote, a prominent link, or and aside post. Each of these post formats will have a unique styling, to make them stand out.

Basic instructions:

  1. In the WordPress Admin screen. Go to Posts > Add New.
  2. Select the post format you desire in the Format box.
  3. Add the special content and add a “Read More-tag”.
  4. Don’t forget the title and the regular content. And hit “Publish”.

"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."<!--more-->
